Defintion of The American Dream

For me the definition of the American Dream is being able to do what makes you happy without having to worry about being persecuted, harassed or mistreated. So many people come to this country seeking an economically stable life for themselves and their family members but there are also many others that simply come here so that they can practice the religion that they believe in. Here we have the right to date whoever we want, pray to whom or whatever we want and live in basically any way we want. It is hard for the people that have grown up in the United States to imagine what it must be like not to have those simple rights but in fact there are so many people all over the world that are denied them. I think in many ways my definition of an American dream is very simple but it has proven to be something that is very hard for so many people around the world to have. Everybody’s definition of happiness is different however I’m sure that everyone could agree that pursuing your happiness without having to be worried about being mistreated.
